Where it all began! #osu #fisher #inpursuitof #asseenoncampus #asseenincolumbus #howfirmthyfriendship (at Fisher College of Business)
It’s finally here! You’ve spent the last four (or more) years checking off GECs, stressing about season ticket blocks, daydreaming creative ways to trash *ichigan, Facebooking in class, beating the clock, pulling all nighters in front of your laptop, plunging boldly into Mirror Lake, napping in the stacks at Thompson, cursing Carmen, and (let us get cheesy for a moment) making some amazing friends you’ll have for the rest of your life, how firm thy friendship, dude!
We at Pursuit know because we graduated ourselves waaaay back in 2011 from The Ohio State University (Fisher MBA program). So we thought we’d share some tips about finishing strong…
1) Turn your phone to airplane mode… Trust us you won’t be able to get a signal, it’ll drive you insane, the ceremony is long and your phone searching for a signal will drain your batteries not allowing you to…
2) Take lots of pictures… There is nothing like being in the Shoe with your crew for the last time, you’re gonna want to have a few drinks later and Instagram all your favorite embarrassing moments of your friends with witty captions like “Nap & Gown”. Plus you’ll want to rub it in to all your friends that somehow didn’t go to OSU that the President of the United States of America, the leader of the free world, gave your commencement speech— “See that little speck on the stage? That’s him!”
3) Make up a game to pass the time… It’s going to be a long day, especially because of the crazy security that comes along with the whole President thing. Hum 7 Nation Army each time Urban or his team are mentioned. Adjust your imaginary bow tie each time there is a Gee reference. Start a pool with friends on how many times Obama starts a sentence with “Listen…”. It will give you incentive to listen closely.
4) Wear something comfortable… It’s starting to look like the weather will be nice. You’re expecting us to tell you to wear a suit & tie, right? Well we won’t discourage you, and your family may want you looking grown up for the post-ceremony photos, but do it strategically. If you are dressing up, have your little brother wear you coat during the ceremony, stash your tie in Grandma’s purse until it’s needed, and drop a few shirt buttons under the gown to allow yourself to breathe. And if your photos will all be in your cap & gown, feel free to go t-shirt casual underneath.
5) Smile… The day will be a celebration of your accomplishments but it will also be a celebration of the people who got you to this point! Your parents, your grandparents, your mentors, your siblings, your friends, your professors—the day is just as much about them as it is about you. So even after 10 hours of insanity, 400 photo ops, and 95 hugs, just smile! It’s your final final exam, a test of your patience!
But for Ohio State Pursuit would not exist! We’re proud alumni and we know you will be too. Welcome to the family, young Buckeyes! Enjoy your day and let us know how we can help you while you’re #inpursuitof shaking up the world!

Professor Mittendorf looked really stylish in his new slim suit, shirt, & tie from Pursuit, but clearly he was not the star of the Father Daughter Snow Ball!
